Ellen is a sociology PhD candidate at the University of Hawaii at Manoa who researches how people in creative industries (like the culinary industry) perceive success, averageness, and failure. She learned everything she knows about audio production from her many years DJing on KTUH 90.1FM– UH Manoa’s very own radio station–and around Honolulu. When she’s not working on The Social Breakdown or screaming “WHY?!” into her computer screen while analyzing her dissertation data, Ellen rides bikes, hangs out with her pups Banjo and Gertrude Stein, and cooks.
